Our Voices

Fadia, Wais y Emram huyen del infierno de una de las peores crisis humanitarias del siglo XXI: el conflicto armado en Afganistán. Han gastado todos los ahorros de sus familias y se juegan la vida para poder llegar a Europa. Su viaje los transformará en otras personas, nunca volverán a ser los mismos. Al llegar a los campos de Grecia, se instalan en una especie de Limbo, de pausa, de desesperación, dónde sienten que el tiempo se detiene y que sus vidas no valen nada. Lo único que les queda son sus voces. Quieren gritar y explicar al mundo que ellos no tienen la culpa de haber nacido en ese país, y que, por lo menos, merecen ser tratados como personas.

 

“Our Voices” es una historia de esperanza, de luces en la oscuridad. Pese haber vivido un infierno los mensajes de los refugiados son de esperanza y este documental sirve como herramienta para entender las vidas de los refugiados que llegan a Europa y se ven maltratados y desprotegidos.

Fadia, Wais and Emram are fleeing the hell of one of the worst humanitarian crises of the 21st century: the armed conflict in Afghanistan. They’ve spent all their families’ savings and risked their lives to get to Europe. The journey transforms them: they will never be the same. When they reach the camps in Greece, they find themselves in a sort of limbo, a parenthesis, hopelessness, where they feel like time stands still and their lives are worthless. The only thing they have left is their voices. They want to shout and make the world understand it’s not their fault they were born in that country, and they at least deserve to be treated like people.

 

“Our Voices” is a story of hope, of light in the darkness. Despite having gone through hell, the refugees’ messages are full of hope and this documentary is a tool for understanding the lives of refugees who reach Europe only to be mistreated and abandoned.
